Requirements Acceptance Maturity Platform (RAMP)

It is a common occurrence – whether it is a new product/system roll out or an application change as part of periodic releases or specific changes - roll out of application software systems is inordinately held up, suspended or delayed at the time of User Acceptance testing. While most issues manifest themselves only towards the latter stages of a project, they can be traced back to improper or inadequate process frameworks and quality gates during earlier stages.

What is needed is a framework that clearly lays out a deterministic path towards helping business heads and CIOs/CTOs to build a higher level of predictability and greater assurance into their software implementation initiatives to achieve an acceptable level of quality, on-time, within budget.

RAMP is a business acceptance process framework, which sets in place a process assessment and improvement methodology that calls for the systematic evaluation of an organization’s acceptance process. It covers all the lifecycle stages from evaluation to post implementation, focussed on the evaluation process, business acceptance planning process, requirements definition and impact analysis process, requirements management and development process, requirements validation process, post implementation process, improvements process and program support process.

We begin by understanding the existing systems landscape and implementation processes. Based on the information provided, we assess the coverage, consistency and relevance of the existing process framework against best practices and validate the consistency of practice, vis-à-vis a defined process framework. We then define an on-going plan for process improvements, driven by business priorities, and also a framework for measuring benefits achieved through implementing the improvement plan. If required, our consultants can set up an on-going process assessment to create a self-sustaining framework.

Your benefits

RAMP helps to assess the end-to-end software implementation and release processes, from the viewpoint of:
  • Ensuring business team ownership across different phases, including active involvement and reviews at defined check-points
  • Implementing ongoing validation and traceability of actions against the requirements stated by different user teams
  • Tracking changes and deviations from accepted requirements and plans, setting in place effective review and approval mechanisms
  • Identifying, in advance, the different infrastructure components, external systems, data components and internal & 3rd party stakeholders required for acceptance

The overall objective is to ensure the release / system / application being rolled out meets defined user acceptance criteria consistently, for every implementation and roll-out.

  • Gaps found in process implementation
  • Gaps identified against best practices
  • Improvement plan and actions, based on business priorities
  • Benefits measurement framework and approach
  • Ongoing assessment plan, if applicable
  • Step-by-step progression plan, if applicable
